Sherry Alpert developed SINGLE AGAIN during a playwriting course with acclaimed playwright Kirsten Greenidge and a subsequent course with the Grub Street Creative Writing Workshop. She has been involved with the Playwrights Platform, Boston, where SINGLE AGAIN had three staged readings, followed by a staged reading with Grub Street. One scene, “Have a Nice Evening,” won the Audience Choice Award for Comedy at the Annual Playwrights Platform New Play Festival at the Boston Playwrights Theatre. Another scene “Food for Thought” was part of the F.U.D.G.E. Theatre’s “Short Play Festival” at the New Repertory Theatre in Watertown, MA. A public relations consultant and published fiction writer, Alpert is a lifelong theatregoer with a provocative sense of humor, which has fostered her playwriting, comedy writing, timing and economical staging. With 150-plus post-divorce dates and several relationships from which to draw, she exposes the vulnerabilities we all share. She has spent most of her professional life doing public relations, with major national media stories for clients.
