PERMAFROST is the third in a Climate Change Cycle of Plays which opened with “Starlight” and went back in time to “1969”; we find The Scientist in a room overlooking the Atlantic in the company of a Cat, poring through research and documents going back to the mid-19th Century which may hold the solution to climate change and extinction.

About the Playwright
Playwright Gina Russell Tracy has written over a dozen plays to date, most recently “Wm. & Jas. – a Ghost Story” which opened at Theater for the New City’s Cino Theater in December of 2021, is under consideration by the Pulitzer Prize Committee, as was her previous TNC World Premiere “Potters Wheel” which opened Crystal Field’s 50th Season in January of 2020. Tracy’s Climate Change Trilogy – “Starlight”, its prequel “1969” and sequel “permafrost” – received an Equity Staged Reading on Opening Day of ClimateWeekNYC 2021 following Keynote Speaker Al Gore and starring Alison Fraser, Jeff McCarthy, Sam Tsoutsouvas, Erin Hill, Tony Capone, Mary Tierney, Michael Marotta, Shana Farr, Vincent Ticali and Ashley McLoud shortly after award-winning film producer and actress Tanna Frederick and Mary Tierney presented “permafrost” in a World Premiere reading at TNC. “Starlight” was a finalist in last year’s Garry Marshall New Works Festival and was featured several years before in William Mittler’s 25th Annual New Playwrights Festival at Fullerton; it was presented as a Benefit Staged Reading starring Ms. Frederick, Gregory Harrison, Amanda McBroom, Jeffrey Kober and Joanna Strapp at the New Vic in Santa Barbara as a fundraiser for Project Save Our Surf. Gina has been honored by the Connecticut Legislature for her environmental work and is currently in rewrites on her children’s plays “The Last Panda”, “Storybookland” and “Alison”; she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cal State Northridge and is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
