MONSTERS ARE MADE IN THE MINDS OF MEN
by Ryan M. Bultrowicz
“Monsters are Made in the Minds of Men” is a thought-provoking play that delves into the destructive impact of trauma, obsession, and the blurred lines between reality and perception. The story follows a father who is obsessed with monsters and all things in the realm of the mystical. As his obsession takes hold, he becomes convinced that his own family has been replaced by bakenekos, a shapeshifting cat-like entity, and in his attempt to ‘save’ them, he ultimately destroys everything that he holds dear. The play bounces between the past and present to explore themes of mental health, the generational ripple effect of trauma, and the destructive impact of obsession.
