At the age of three, Mary disappeared near the Pench Jungle in India. Ten years later she was found. Fortunately, a family had taken good care of her for those many years. A family of tigers, that is. Mary now believes that she is a cat. Enter noted child psychologist Dr. James Hauser. Seeing an opportunity to not only “save” the girl, but to also earn a bit of fame for himself, James vows to turn the girl back into a human being. But what if Mary doesn’t want to be human? What if Mary would rather remain a cat?

About the Playwright
Originally from South Dakota, Rand Higbee obtained a Theatre degree from South Dakota State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While at UNLV his first full-length play, Sir Isaac’s Duel, was named as an alternate to the National American College Theatre Festival held at the Kennedy Center. Since college days Rand has become known for his family friendly comedies.

Mary emerges from the jungle still very young, almost non-verbal, and exhibiting behaviors far more feline than human, but she has no difficulty running rings around the pompous child psychologist determined to civilize that feral child. As she becomes more comfortable with language, she reveals her secret identity and her mission to save the tigers of the world, bestowed upon her by the tigers themselves. This hilarious play with a serious message would be a romp for the right troupe of character actors–and a physically flexible younger actress. Highly recommended.
