The Seven Ages of WoMan

The Seven Ages of WoMan is a collection of short plays chronicling seven stages of life through the eyes of women in our world today. Both comedy and drama, the pieces were inspired by Shakespeare’s soliloquy in As You Like It. The plays can be performed by a cast of 4-5 playing nine female characters ages 9-90.
The seven ages include twins competing for space in the womb, a tweener battling a neighbor dog in order to chase her dream, a millennial with a secret preparing for a date, a young mother fighting for the last toy truck on Christmas Eve, a newly retired business owner who writes a letter to her nine-year-old self, an elderly woman’s wacky attempts to record an oral history, and finally, the twins near the end of their life, coming to terms with one last separation.

About the Playwright
Bonnie Milne Gardner, an award-winning playwright and proud member of Honor Roll, grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Venues that have presented her plays include San Diego’s Human Rights Theatre Festival, Cleveland Play House, Kent State University, Edward Albee New Frontier Conference, and New School for Drama in NYC. She was twice awarded an Ohio Arts Council Excellence in Playwriting grant, and astonished to win the limerick contest at the Southern Playwrights Theatre Festival. Most recently, her comedy “Wedding Blisters” was a finalist in the AACT 2022 New Play Fest, “Lady Susan: Jane Austen’s Distinguished Flirt” was published by UK’s Scripts for Stage, and “Tonka Mom”was included in The Best Ten Minute Plays of 2019 (Smith and Kraus). Her book, The Emergence of the Playwright-Director in American Theatre came out in 2001. Gardner earned a PhD in theatre at Kent State University, and is professor emeritus at Ohio Wesleyan University. A life-long member of Dramatists Guild, Gardner currently lives in Asheville, N.C.
